As demand for electricity increases in line with the expansion of solar power, electric vehicle charging and electrified industry, electricity grid companies are facing major capacity challenges. Now, the Norwegian innovation player Magtech is being launched in Sweden – with Norrmontage as exclusive distributor.
Magtech is part of Nortrafo Group AS, which also includes Norrmontage and Norsk Transformator. The company has developed award-winning products for voltage regulation that make it possible to increase the capacity and stability of electricity grids – without expanding the infrastructure.
Magtech’s technology is based on a voltage regulator based on an eco-transformer with automatic tap-changer. The solution dynamically adjusts the voltage in the grid and enables both stabilization and power increase – especially in long radials and weak rural grids.
– We offer a smart alternative to grid expansion – a solution that can be used both temporarily, until the grid is expanded, or permanently in parts of the grid where voltage variations create problems, says Alexander Kristensen, CCO at Magtech.
Several Swedish electricity grid companies have already started testing Magtech’s voltage regulation solutions.
